Kitocoat Forms Innovation Group with Support from Jordbruksverket
Kitocoat has been granted funding to form an innovation group under the EIP-Agri framework. The group will work on developing our idea of an edible, biodegradable coating that extends the shelf life of fruits and vegetables. This solution aims to provide a sustainable alternative to plastic packaging and refrigeration, while significantly reducing food waste.
The project will involve testing the coating with Swedish farmers on locally grown crops such as potatoes, onions, cucumbers, and zucchini. These tests will help validate the technology in real-world conditions and tailor it to the specific challenges faced by Swedish agriculture.
The innovation group will include:
- Farmers for practical testing and feedback.
- Researchers and experts from KTH and other organizations.
- Industry partners contributing market knowledge and implementation expertise.
This funding marks the first step in advancing a solution that promotes sustainable food production and reduces environmental impact.
